Hwy 77 Cafe: A Beloved Highway Diner in Rosebud, TX

After reading about Cafe 77' s Wall of Honor, we had to stop and put up a picture of our father Jerome Anton Becker. He graduated Class of 43 from Rosebud High School and enlisted at 19 in the Marines. He served in World War II and the Korean War. Proud to have his picture added. The food was outrageously good. We tried the fried fish and shrimp, country fried steak and country fried chicken. No one had room for dessert even though the offerings included bread pudding, banana pudding, peach cobbler and more made from scratch tasty treats. Staff was wonderful. Looking forward to coming back.

Very cool highway diner that appears in the middle of nowhere! Friendly service and great food with a nice vibe. Walls are covered with pictures of veterans, old and new and each is indexed with a number so you can see their name and information. Multiple generations too with things like "...son of #293." The index can be found on their website or they also have a tri-fold menu style printout that you can look at as well. Love this place!!

Had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes with brown gravy and greens beans. It was all excellent. The meatloaf had stewed tomatoes and onions which was an excellent touch.

Going to this little restaurant was a great experience. We were passing through town and just so happened upon this place. It looks so tiny from outside, but it's pretty spacious inside. Our waitress was very nice, and answered any questions we had about the menu. The burger was good, and the whole family enjoyed their meals. We had the banana pudding for dessert, and it was delicious. I'd highly recommend stopping here for lunch.

So I'm an OTR truck driver for Swift Transportation. I've been to a lot of restaurants all over the country. I ended up having a blow out just before the restaurant. they were nice enough to let me pull in so the gentleman changing my tire wasn't next to the road. I decided to go in and have dinner which was chicken fried chicken their food was fresh and delicious, the steamed veggies were fresh and crisp. for desert was a fresh slice of carrot cake that was moist and seasoned to perfection! I love that they support veterans. they were very friendly and the service was very good! they definitely made my day much better by accidently being in the right location at the right time. I hope this restaurant has great success!

Breakfast was incredible! Best gravy I've had (sorry, grandma!)!! I had the scrambled and didn't think I'd be able to eat it all. I did! Great atmosphere, veteran friendly and great service! Will be back next time I'm down this way for sure!

Want good home style food? Then this is the place to stop on highway 77 just outside of Rosebud. Family owned and operated. You feel very welcome the moment you enter. The meatloaf is awesome, as is the German slaw. The decor is of military veterans past and present and a true testimony to their service.

After passing this place several times while traveling, I finally got the chance to stop. Very pleasant experience! The food was delicious and the service was great. We tried the fried mushroom appetizer and it was perfect! The mushrooms were so big they had to be cut in 4ths to eat. The batter was delicious and not greasy at all! The meatloaf was a huge portion and tasty! The fish and shrimp combo plate was big enough to share and the onion rings were perfection! Hand-battered and deliciously crispy. The patty melt was flavorful and gooey. And the desserts were delicious. Everyone got something different and no one was disappointed. The peach cobbler was big enough to share with 3 people. We will be back!
